Innovative and radically ahead of his time, Bruce Lee developed a martial system and fighting strategy that has lost none of its effectiveness over time.
His skill in fighting did more than just landing him jobs on-screen, it literally made him an icon in the world of martial arts.
Emphasizing the "ranges of combat". Students are taught to confidently "flow" from long distance, "kicking- range", to middle distance, "hand-range", to close quarter, "trapping & grappling range". Dan Inosanto was Bruce Lee's most skillful and senior student. Parra is directly trained and certified as a full instructor by Inosanto.
JKD Ground Submission and Grappling Mix
The Academy offers a top-notch ground fighting program sanctioned under Larry Hartsell (pictured at left) and Marc McFann.
Guros Hartsell and McFann, in addition to being recognized authorities in Kali, Silat and Muay Thai, have also developed an extremely effective blend of Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Silat, and Shoot fighting.
We teach the student in a safe, controlled environment, the use of sweeps, throws, pressure points, locks and chokes with and without the Gi.
The course includes Nasty, tricky Marc McFann Ground Fighting and Submission, plus more along Sifu Larry Hartsel's JKD guidelines of grappling.
Filipino Martial Arts Kali/Silat
A complete defense program that introduces students to 12 main areas, including, but not limited to single stick, double stick, stick & dagger, and unarmed techniques.
Drills are taught in a fluid, non-restrictive manner allowing students to enhance their sense of timing, speed, awareness, balance, agility, and confidence.
Everyday objects, such as umbrellas, books, bandannas, etc., become effective means of self-defense. Course includes: Inosanto Blend of Filipino Arts (Guro Innosanto pictured to the left), Ted Lucaylucay, and Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje's bladed art of Pekiti Tirsia.
Muay Thai Boxing
Developed in Thailand the devastating art of Muay Thai utilizes the practitioner's natural weapons, knees, elbows, kicks and punches.
Care is taken to teach students proper form and body mechanics to eliminate injuries and gain maximum effectiveness.
The class places an emphasis on the physical conditioning and cardiovascular benefits of Thai Boxing.
Ray Parra is an instructor under Ajarn Surachai "Chai" Sirisute (pictured at left) the founder of the US Thai Boxing Association.
Pekiti Tirsia Kali
Pekiti documented as the most ferocious weapons systems in the world with emphasis in close quarter-fighting.

"Pekiti-Tirsia Kali is a style specific to Filipino Martial Arts. Pekiti-Tirsia Kali was founded in 1897 and is the system of the Tortal family. The sole heir and guardian of this system is Leo Tortal Gaje, Jr. who is referred to as the Supreme Grand Tuhon. Pekiti-Tirsia is strictly a combat-oriented system, as opposed to sport-focused, style. It is a fighting system that focuses on the knife and machete/sword for killing and has been adopted by elite Philippine military and law enforcement units."
Parra is a Tuhon "full instructor" under Supreme Grand Tuhon Gaje and The Parra Academy is the home of the Austin Pitbulls.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Affiliated School
Jeff Parra - co-owner, BJJ, MMA instructor, and JKD Black Belt, has extensive Martial Arts experience. He trains in Jeet Kune Do/Kali under his father (Ray Parra) and is in the Parra Instructor Program as a Full Instructor. Jeff is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Dave Dunn and is under the lineage of former UFC champion Dean Lister. Jeff has extensive background and training under many Black Belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He trained at Paragon Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy where he was promoted up to a fourth stripe purple belt between 2011-2014.
Jeff has trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Darrin Lillian, who is a Black Belt under Travis Tooke. Jeff is ranked under Mr. Lillian as a Brown Belt. Before training under Mr. Lillian, Jeff trained under Mr. King "Spider" Webb. The Parra academy is affiliated with the King Webb Seguin BJJ school in Seguin, Texas.
Jeff uses a JKD approach in combining the teaching styles of stand up MMA with BJJ and JKD grappling. Jeff has his Masters Degree as a graduate from Texas State University with a degree in exercise physiology for children. Jeff teaches private and group classes at various locations for adults in Austin.
